Perpetual futures use a funding rate mechanism to keep prices anchored to spot. When funding is positive, shorts receive payment from longs. By holding spot and shorting the perp simultaneously, you collect this yield with zero net price exposure.
Is this really zero risk?
Price risk is eliminated by the hedge. Remaining risks include exchange counterparty risk, liquidity risk when unwinding, and funding rate reversal. CarryFi only surfaces markets with >$5M daily volume and >$1M open interest to minimize these.
